40-Hour Domestic Violence Training

Courage Connection is an accredited training site by the Illinois Domestic Violence Professionals Board and a part of the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

The purpose of the Illinois 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training is to equip Illinois professionals, including volunteers and interns, with the knowledge and skills needed to respond to domestic violence, raise awareness, and implement effective prevention strategies in a professional and safe manner.

40 Hour Training Components:

  • History of Courage Connection
  • Dynamics of DV
  • Direct Service & Counseling
  • Impact of DV on Children
  • Safety Planning, Risk Assessment
  • Teen Dating Violence
  • Introduction & Basics into Partner Abuse Intervention Strategies
  • Mental Health & Self Care
  • Cultural Competency (LGBTQ+, immigrants, and other marginalized communities)
  • Interactive Role-Playing Games

This 40 Hour training is offered hybrid. 20 hours will be online through the ICADV (Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence), and other 20 hours will be in-person, classroom style. The online portion MUST be completed by due date which is PRIOR to in-person. You will NOT be permitted into the class unless you have turned in the 20 hours online certification of completion.

Cost: $400 (Upon payment and registration, you will be emailed instructions on how to proceed with the online portion)

When:  September 28th – September 30th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
