Domestic violence is a crime. If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence, please call us. Our trained domestic violence professionals are here to assist you.
Advocates collaborate with the State’s Attorney’s Office and court personnel to assure clients’ needs are met and their safety concerns are addressed.
Court advocates assist those who are dealing with domestic violence, stalking, harassment, bullying, and sexual assault with filing domestic, stalking, and sexual civil no-contact orders. We help to file the proper paperwork needed to obtain an order of protection and continue with support in the courtroom.
For Court Assistance
Those in need of assistance can make an appointment with a court advocate by calling our 24hr-hotline (217) 384-4390 where screening will be conducted over the phone.
A court advocate will then contact you to discuss your situation and answer questions. If needing assistance with a protective order, the court advocate will work with you to schedule a time with you to complete paperwork and attend court.
The court advocates are at the Champaign County courthouse on the 1st floor
Monday – Friday at 9:30am to assist walk-ins with completing protective orders.
A brief screening is completed to determine eligibility.
