Roaring Resilience

Rape Advocacy, Counseling, and Education Services (RACES), in partnership with the City of Champaign Equity and Engagement Department and Courage Connection, is honored to present the Champaign County book launch of Roaring Resilience: Finding Grit in the Lion’s Den by author Adrienne Spires.

Throughout her professional career, including many years serving as an advocate with RACES in Champaign-Urbana, Ms. Spires has dedicated herself to empowering survivors of sexual assault and gender-based violence. As a non-offending parent who has navigated the complex emotions and challenges that come with supporting an abused child, she has remained a fearless advocate for individuals and families impacted by abuse.

Ms. Spires authored Roaring Resilience: Finding Grit in the Lion’s Den to share her lived experience, continue her healing journey, and inspire survivors across the nation to pursue lives free from abuse and violence.

During this special event, Ms. Spires will speak about her book, her experience as a survivor and non-offending parent, her years serving the Champaign-Urbana community as an advocate for sexual assault victims, and her current work giving support to nonprofit organizations that provide services to individuals and families affected by domestic violence.

RACES, the City of Champaign Equity and Engagement Department, and Courage Connection warmly invite community members to join us in welcoming this hometown author back to Champaign County on Wednesday, June 17, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the CityView Ballroom in the Illinois Terminal. The evening will offer a meaningful opportunity for reflection, healing, resilience, and community connection as attendees come together to honor survivors and uplift one another through shared stories of courage and hope.
