PROGRAM DIRECTOR

(FULL TIME)

Courage Connection, based in Champaign-Urbana, has helped victims and survivors of domestic violence rebuild their lives since 1971. Current services include a 24-hour hotline, safety planning, emergency shelter, counseling, court advocacy, and transitional housing, as well as supportive services such as self-empowerment groups, financial planning education, parenting classes, community education, support groups for friends and families, and more. Our organizational mission is to provide a continuum of services so that individuals and families can achieve safety, stability, and self-sufficiency. We believe in the right of every person to safety and the potential of every person for success.

Courage Connection is looking for a Program Director to help lead the agency’s shift from a legacy paradigm of shelter-based services to an advocacy first model where shelter is just one of many  services available. This work will include helping program teams that historically operated in parallel become a strong, solid, unified program.

Position is new, currently vacant, and will be open until filled.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  1. Oversee direct services of the agency.
  2. Ensure client safety and advocacy are primary concerns, along with excellence in service provision and documentation.
  3. Implement and sustain evidence-based ongoing program evaluation and improvements.
  4. Train, supervise, evaluate, and discipline staff according to agency policies, state and federal employment guidelines, funding requirements, client needs, and staff development goals.
  5. Work in partnership with the agency’s leadership team in a spirit of collaboration, transparency, resiliency and innovation.
  6. Engage in public awareness and education activities, build and improve community partner relationships, and promote the agency’s services with candor, optimism and compassion.

The ideal candidate will:

  3. Value impact, human dignity, and often much needed levity.

Qualifications:

  1. A deep understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence, homelessness, poverty, privilege and control are required.
  2. The ability to help others see and embrace the best in themselves is essential.
  3. ICDVP certification or equivalent is preferred.
  4. A masters degree with relevant experience in managing staff, managing programs, program change and evaluation, and building team morale are strongly preferred.

ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR 

(FULL TIME)

Courage Connection is looking for a Administrative Coordinator to support the leadership team in a dynamic environment of “other duties as assigned.”

Position is new, currently vacant, and will be opened until filled. Only qualified candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  1. Provide operational support for the Executive Director.
  2. Provide operational support for grants and development.
  3. Facilitate requests for technology assistance.
  4. Coordinate agency presentations and trainings including scheduling and logistical support.

Qualifications. The ideal candidate will:

  1. Be highly proficient with written and verbal communication.
  2. Already have an understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and the State confidential laws to which the agency is subject.
  3. Have excellent grammar and proofreading skills, as well as excellent attentions to details.
  4. Have experience reading and assessing grant notices of funding opportunities.
  5. Have written grant applications that awarded over $500,000.
  6. Be able to professionally challenge authority and the status quo.
  7. Be able to work quickly, efficiently and independently under minimal supervision and tight deadlines

ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER

(FULL TIME)

We are actively building a hardworking, dependable and fun team.  Strong initiative, pride in your work and an eye for detail is a must. The ability to lift boxes of donations and piles of clothing is required. Must possess an appreciation for apparel, home goods and have a desire to work with the public.

Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of one year experience in retail management and supervisory experience
  2. Supervisory experience
  3. Availability during store hours and attend some agency related functions outside of store hours.
  4. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and stand/walk around for long periods of time.
  5. Work independently while staying motivated and following directions

  5. Follow all safety and security policies, including locking and securing of the store at closing time.
  6. Maintaining accurate receipt and deposit records.

RURAL COURT ADVOCATE

(Full-time)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide legal advocacy and assistance to victims of domestic violence; accompany clients to hearings for support and advocacy as appropriate
  • Engage in coordination and advocacy with officials and agencies in the criminal justice system
  • Remain abreast of current domestic violence laws
  • Make client referrals and network with appropriate agencies
  • Engage in activities to increase public awareness and education related to the issues of domestic violence and homelessness
  • Rantoul and Ford County travel is required; must have reliable transportation
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with clients, staff, and community partners

CHILDREN’S CASE MANAGER

We are currently looking to fill the full-time position of Children’s Case Manager with the most qualified individual to help us carry out best practices to achieve the mission of our organization and to help families in our community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Providing child/parent supportive services
  2. Orientation of new families
  3. Regular planning/implementation of child special events around children’s holidays and school schedule
  4. Assisting in program development (including new events, events/activities for older/teenage children, and parenting skill development)
  5. Monitor and report on developmental needs of each child.
  6. Education and safety planning
  7. Maintaining confidential client files
  8. Facilitate parenting and other supportive and educational child focused groups
  9. Participation in volunteer training and community education
  10. Assist in on-call rotation
  11. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum of two years’ experience in social services
  2. Experience with case management
  3. Experience working with homeless populations and/or victims of domestic violence.

CLIENT ADVOCATE

We are currently looking to fill multiple shifts for the position of Client Advocate. We are seeking the most qualified applicant(s) to help us carry out our organizational mission.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide supportive services on a weekly basis, or more often as needed, to clients in the form of advocacy, counseling, budgeting, housing assistance and short and long-range goal planning;
  • Document client meetings and groups
  • Maintain client files to meet agency and funder requirements
  • Provide appropriate support to other clients as needed
  • Cover the agency phone or hotline; be flexible to ensure that the phones are always covered
  • Coordinate service and safety plans with other direct service staff
  • Make client referrals and network with appropriate agencies
  • Participate in community activities and resource building opportunities with clients and for the agency
  • Other duties as assigned

 QUALIFICATIONS:        

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with clients, staff, and community partners

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify eligible clients for housing programs
  • Collect require paperwork, conduct the client intake assessments and redeterminations; maintain the waiting list
  • Provide case management and supportive services, including home and office visits, field visits, advocacy and counseling including: budgeting; housing assistance; employment; education; health care; short and long-range goal planning
  • Assist client(s) with the development and maintenance of individualized self-sufficiency service plans
  • Make client referrals and network with appropriate landlords, agencies and businesses
  • Coordinate disbursement of funds for services with appropriate staff
  • Coordinate client’s discharge and follow-up needs
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with clients, staff, and community partners
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
