PROGRAM DIRECTOR

(FULL TIME)

Courage Connection, based in Champaign-Urbana, has helped victims and survivors of domestic violence rebuild their lives since 1971. Current services include a 24-hour hotline, safety planning, emergency shelter, counseling, court advocacy, and transitional housing, as well as supportive services such as self-empowerment groups, financial planning education, parenting classes, community education, support groups for friends and families, and more. Our organizational mission is to provide a continuum of services so that individuals and families can achieve safety, stability, and self-sufficiency. We believe in the right of every person to safety and the potential of every person for success.

Courage Connection is looking for a Program Director to help lead the agency’s shift from a legacy paradigm of shelter-based services to an advocacy first model where shelter is just one of many services available. This work will include helping program teams that historically operated in parallel become a strong, solid, unified program.

Position is new, currently vacant, and will be open until filled.

Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. Only qualified candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  1. Oversee direct services of the agency.
  2. Ensure client safety and advocacy are primary concerns, along with excellence in service provision and documentation.
  3. Implement and sustain evidence-based ongoing program evaluation and improvements.
  4. Train, supervise, evaluate, and discipline staff according to agency policies, state and federal employment guidelines, funding requirements, client needs, and staff development goals.
  5. Work in partnership with the agency’s leadership team in a spirit of collaboration, transparency, resiliency and innovation.
  6. Engage in public awareness and education activities, build and improve community partner relationships, and promote the agency’s services with candor, optimism and compassion.

 The ideal candidate will:

  1. Embody experience, innovation, and the ability to motivate others.
  2. Take the work seriously while being able to adapt to ever-emerging client needs.
  3. Value impact, human dignity, and often much needed levity.
  4. Qualifications:
  5. A deep understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence, homelessness, poverty, privilege and control are required.
  6. The ability to help others see and embrace the best in themselves is essential.
  7. ICDVP certification or equivalent is preferred.
